A $50,000 Matching Challenge Gift is now in effect! It will DOUBLE your gift and give TWICE the lifesaving help needed by men, women, children, and families devastated by food insecurity all while supporting your favorite restaurants and servers
WeHOPE has been serving our community’s most vulnerable since 1999 with emergency food and shelter and mobile homeless services. Until now, WeHOPE has served its clients nutritious meals every day, 365 days a year, primarily with usable leftovers provided by Stanford University Dining and other food donations.
As COVID-19 caused Stanford to shut down and disrupted other donation sources, the WeHOPE staff is working not only to keep our homeless neighbors safe and healthy, but also to make sure they have access to food as they shelter in place in the East Palo Alto facility, at safe RV parking locations throughout the Bay Area, and in local hotels.
To address this urgent need, WeHOPE has partnered with local restaurants, Osteria Toscana, Taverna, Taqueria La Cazuela and Tony's Pizza, to launch Meals for Hope. During this crisis, the WeHOPE staff is working closely with our restaurant partners to develop healthy, balanced, reduced-price meals to purchase and deliver them to our homeless neighbors in East Palo Alto and throughout the Bay Area. This way, we address food insecurity for the most vulnerable in our community while also supporting our favorite local restaurants and their employees.
WeHOPE estimates the cost to support Meals for Hope through September will be $100,000. Dorsal Capital, a local financial firm, has generously sponsored a challenge grant. For every dollar we raise between April 20 and June 1, they will match dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000.
Please give generously, and together we can create hope in the midst of crisis.
